Our Cosmo, Part 1

As part of my down-time while job-hunting, I have committed to doing volunteer work.
I think if anyone is truthful with themselves, they will tell you the best feelings you can get is when you help out someone or something that isn't yourself.

Good example: Several years back, my wife experienced a small professional educational setback, so, since she wouldn't be leaving for training at Harvard (I know, right?) we decided to get a dog. We'd wanted one for a long time and when a window closes--- a doggie-door opens.

Since we live downtown in a condo, Collene did some research into breeds that are well suited to that kind of living. Oddly enough, they were not well-to-do, middle class, upwardly mobile yuppie dogs. First on the list were the Bichon Frise, a small to medium sized breed which are known for their hypo-allergenic hair (not fur), their intelligence and their friendly, playful, cuddly nature.
In the Olden-Days-of-Yore ( WTF is yore?) The Bichon Frise were prized by Seafaring men and Circuses because they were easily trained, natural performers and wonderful companions. Hell, Sailors would give them as gifts (payment) to their "girlfriends" when they got to port and wanted to get a little somethin'-somethin'. Exchanging some doggie for some...

Due diligence done, we began to check all the rescue shelters in our area and at Max Fund found the cutest little, scrawny, borderline-sickly, ten-year-old little guy. His owner had gotten too old and feeble to take care of him and that is how we met Cosmo. In our liberal largesse, we reached out to save this poor little victim, and ended up saving me.

More later.....

Today is the first day of the BEST of my life.

Today is the Fourth of July. Independence Day. Independant's Day. Also the end of my first week without a job. Not having that job is probably for the best, but not having A JOB is a little disconcerting. I know that there is a perfect job out there for me and my bag of diverse and unusual skills. In the meantime I'll be documenting the journey here. Wish me luck.

Sick

I'm just sick to my soul.

Lots to do out there and so much of it would be pretty easy with a little cooperation. The Planet's isn't fragile, but we are. Earth is gonna survive as soon as it takes care of the viruses and parasites that are killing it's livable surface; us.

There are lots of solutions and, like I said many are simple.

I understand and I sympathize with the people who just don't know about what's going wrong and how to make it right. However, there's a special place in hell (if they believe in it, like they claim they do,) for the leaders who are in a position to enlighten these people with the TRUTH and yet they choose to fill them with willful lies to further their own agenda (usually money or power).

When The Police sang, "I hope the Russians love their Children Too." they never considered the greed and corruption of the Corporate Politicians. Gimme, my money now, and screw the world (Often in the name of Jesus).

They did it with the the mortgages and the stock market, they're doing it with the environment, and they SO VERY MUCH want to do it with Healthcare.Let's try not to let them.

I'll be the first to admit that I like money too.

But not to the detriment of my soul.

Please, please

I think the real reason that the Repugs are pissed off at Obama, is that He got elected before they got a chance to Destroy the economic structure of the US. Without Dem intervention it would have continued to tank and, I'm afraid that was their plan.
Steal every last penny from the middle class, then they'd impose their unique style of Socialism (Indentured slavery) on all of us and they'd get a huge influx into the Military to fight their WARS, the only US export we have left.
The economy is actually starting to turn around and all they can say is, "Is not!"
Now it's time to get some real healthcare change going and put the country back into the hands of the people. With the country and their futures in their hands the people won't have any room or any need for guns in their hands

Archived Outrage

Let me get this straight. Nixon goes to China, makes up for his being the worst (at the time) President in forever. Clinton goes to N Korea, gets 2 American Journalists released and somehow he's destroyed US foriegn relations. Why do they still put Bolton and Buchanan on TV? Are they afraid they'll lose the "Yosemite Sam" demographic?

Well we've finally dumbed-down the country to the point where the movie "Idiocracy" was a wild-eyed-optimistic-vision-of-the-future. We've traded in discussion and debate for Ultimate Fighting with fat, ugly people.

I just got back from the Stout St Clinic (Colo Coalition for The Homeless) where DeGette and Pelosi will be today. They're Shoring up to be protected from the astroturf protesters. I'm afraid that one of these MORONS will pull one of their conceal-carry guns and start shooting. Over Healthcare!! They'll probably sue the victim over getting blood all over their pretty bullets. I'm sick to the soul. Please Stop. Enough.

I'm done with outrage for the day. Everyone strip naked. We'll either all be too revolted, too amused or too turned-on to fight.

SAD

I feel sad for America. Really sad. Especially for the people who profess to be Christians and yet they follow the teachings of the ultra capitalists. We used to be so much better than this.

I was raised Christian (Catholic) and went to Catholic schools for 12 years of my education. And there I learned about Jesus and his teachings. He seemed, to me, to be a humble, un-imposing, likable guy who was loved by many. And he loved many. He hung out with the whores and the lepers and the poor and the folks out on the fringes of life. As a matter of fact, I can’t remember anyone that Jesus didn’t love. Seemed like the type of guy that I’d like to hang out with.

I do remember some of the things that Jesus didn’t love, though. He really didn’t love when people wouldn’t help others. He talked about it a lot. He thought that all people had an obligation to help those who were less fortunate than you were. He said that was the route to heaven.
Boy, oh boy, did he not love the rich. He explained how difficult it would be for them to get into heaven, presumably because of the fact that they shirked their obligation to help those less fortunate then them, which would have been basically everyone. He singled out the rich guys who made a big display of praying in public, (everyone look at how holy I am, I’m a member of the C Street club!) because he knew that the one’s who carried on like that where the ones who had no respect for the lord. It was all for show. The real work of the lord is in the doing, the helping.

The only time Jesus went nuts was when the money changers (you know like the banks today) used the temple to conduct business, thereby tacitly implying that your doing business with them, was linked to religion. He sort of made the case that it was not.
The one thing, the biggest thing, he hated was greed. How can I explain greed? The love of money (profit) over people.

For example, let’s say, your job is a lifeguard at a pool. You’re supposed to watch over the people swimming and help them. In return you get paid from the fees that the people pay to use the pool. They agreed, you agreed, everyone’s happy. Now, this company approaches you that has developed a cool new drowning resuscitation machine, that can bring people back from the dead once they’ve drowned for an additional cost direct to the person treated. It is a great boon to the people who accidentally drown. This company approaches you and says, “In order for us to make a profit and to be able to charge more for the use of our machine, we have to demonstrate how it works on a certain number of occasions. The more the better. All you have to do, is not do your job quite so well for a period of time, allowing more “accidental” drownings. We’ll pay you a hundred thousand bucks.”

This offer is an example of Greed. Accepting this offer is an example of Greed. This is how America has been run ever since Regan. See Big Pharma. See Big Oil. See Halliburton. See United Healthcare. See Wall Street. See Congress. Don’t be expecting to see any of these people in heaven.
